Bansko, situated in the South West part of Bulgaria, is a growing hub for remote workers and Digital Nomads from all over the world, and has seen a huge growth of working spaces, international schools and cafes to respond to the demand and the influx of workers.

Bansko is not a beach city like Barcelona or Lisbon. In fact it’s within the land, surrounded by Mountains and lakes. Over the past few years, Bansko has become a favourite destination for remote workers around the world. As per this BBC article, more than 700 entrepreneurs and freelancers can be found at high season in this 10,000 person city in Bulgaria, with an average of 300 of them regular residents.

It all started in 2016, when the first entrepreneurs arrived in Bansko, attracted by its natural surroundings, affordable living costs and low taxes. Over the years the community has grown and the city had to adapt to this new reality, with open arms. Schools are now welcoming children from very different nationalities. Foreign remote workers have been welcomed by the local community, in line with Bulgaria’s renowned warm hospitality and quality of life.

Those digital nomads can now enjoy up to 7 different coworking hubs, but also specific cafes and restaurants, all made to serve this new community within Bansko. It gives to the city an international atmosphere.

Now in its 4th year, the Bansko Nomad Fest has developed from a relatively small digital nomads gathering to one of the most iconic annual events celebrating Digital Nomad’s lifestyle and ways of Working.
